Several, very friendly and energetic groups in the area run classes and dances for all capabilities and will give you a very warm welcome.  You don't need to come with a partner as we all dance with one another. Lightweight clothing and soft shoes are all that are required to start.  You may wish to acquire highland dress later, but that will be your choice.

Scottish Country Dancing is great fun. It's very sociable, is danced by young and old alike all over the world, and is good exercise for both body and mind to boot!  Newcomers will be made most welcome whether new to dancing or with some experience.  Contact any of the groups listed and they will help you get involved.

This website is run by the Anglo Scottish Society of Ipswich as a central resource for all the dancing groups in the area.  Here you will find information on where and when the groups meet, plus contact details, and the dates of special events and dances in our "What's On" calendar.

There are also links to various dancing resources where you can find information on dances, dance figures and music, and also links to other Scottish Dancing societies in or near East Anglia.  If we have omited an organisation that should be here, please get in contact, and we will add it.
